Albufeira to be a European City of Sport
This choice comes after the visit of the Commission led by Gian Francesco Lupattelli, president of ACES Europe, during which its members had the opportunity to see on-site the conditions of the sports infrastructure, the work carried out by the municipality and by sports clubs and associations in the locality and learn about the prospects for sport in Albufeira.
The entity promoting this event recognised the excellence of the sports infrastructure presented by the Municipality, as well as its know-how, ability to organise and host major sporting events at national and international level and the dynamism of the local associative movement.
In Portugal, the city of Albufeira succeeds Viseu (2024), Viana do Castelo (2023), Leiria (2022), Odivelas (2020) and Portimão (2019), resuming a school in the south of the country.
