With Euro 2024 re-sale tickets selling out within hours of the window opening today, lucky Scottish football fans who managed to grab tickets to the opening game against hosts, Germany may not feel so lucky when they look at the cost of flights.

Scotland qualified for Euro 2024 in style. With five wins from eight games, including a 2-0 victory over Spain at Hampden, and six points clear of Norway in third, Scotland qualified for Euro 2024 with two matches to spare.

This will be only the second time Scotland have played in the Euros since 1996.

Scotland open the campaign in Munich on June 14th and the Tartan Army are expected to descend en-masse. Reports suggest that as many as 100,000 could travel but only 10,000 tickets are guaranteed via the Scotland Supporters Club. Many will travel to enjoy the atmosphere but it won’t come cheaply.

Direct return flights to Munich from Edinburgh with EasyJet are currently £1500 (departing on June 12 and returning on June 15).

Even if fans manage to find alternative routes to Munich, a single flight to Edinburgh the day after the game is £567.

With no direct flights from Glasgow, and prices escalating, Scottish fans may have to be creative.

Fans will find lower-cost flights if they are willing to stop over in Heathrow, Paris or Amsterdam with costs reduced to under £600 return.

These prices do not include additional costs, including fees for standard-sized carry-on luggage or accommodation.

Hotels for three nights in Munich are north of £800.

It is set to be an expensive summer of football. However, UEFA and DeutscheBahn have partnered to provide cheap travel.
