Super Eagles defender Bruno Onyemaechi has become a sought-after player, with several clubs, including Greek giants Olympiakos, vying for his signature.
The 25-year-old left-back, currently at Portuguese side Boavista, has attracted interest due to his versatility and dynamic playing style.
Olympiakos are reportedly keen to bring Onyemaechi to Greece as they look to strengthen their squad under head coach José Luis Mendilibar.
The defender’s pace, adaptability, and ability to play both as a traditional left-back and a left-sided attacker make him an ideal fit for the Red and Whites, who aim to bolster their backline.
Onyemaechi’s contract with Boavista runs until 2026, but the Portuguese club may opt to sell now rather than risk losing him for free in two years.
Boavista have already rejected a €2.5 million bid from Trabzonspor, insisting on a €3 million valuation.
Also, another Turkish side Besiktas are also reportedly interested in the defender and will tempt Boavista’s resolve to take Onyemaechi to Istanbul.
However, Olympiakos appear determined to meet the asking price, offering a clear path to first-team football and the lure of competing for silverware.
Currently, Olympiakos sit atop the Greek Super League with 40 points from 18 matches, three points ahead of AEK Athens.
A potential move to the Greek champions would not only offer Onyemaechi the chance to play European football, but also a realistic opportunity to win trophies.
Despite Olympiakos’ mid-table position in the Europa League standings, they remain ambitious and view Onyemaechi as a key piece to reinforce their defence.
With his recent performances at Boavista showcasing his ability to contribute both defensively and offensively, the Nigerian international could be the solution to their needs on the left flank.
